Composed Via Personal Composer

A piano ballade composed via Personal Composer. More about the composer of this piece, here.

The power of Personal Composer is only limited by the power of it’s user. The complexity of this composition is proof that the composer’s ideas are not hindered by this music making software.

Realism is accomplished by the “loose playback” setting in conjunction with a third party software sampler.

My Extended Testimonial, a User for 8 Years

My name is Michael Porcaro, a composer of romantic and impressionistic piano works, and the owner of Young Composers. I want to explain to you, a potential buyer, why I am endorsing Personal Composer over the many competitors out there. I believe I can make your decision very easy if you are currently in the process of deciding which notation software product is best for you.

You all should know, that as a seller of this product, I am not only an avid composer, but I have owned Personal Composer for 8 years, and all of my published compositions have been composed with this product. I will explain to you why I will not use any competitor:

  • As with any advanced type of writing, tuples are a necessary part of composition. Composing with tuples in Personal Composer is faster and easier than any competitor I have ever tried. For example, you can write a piece in triplets during a session, without ever going into any menus to add successive triplets. You can step edit your triplets, and Personal Composer will group these triplets as you step edit, making the composition process go faster, and smoother.
  • Inputting notes on staves either by mouse or via keyboard is fast and immediate. Grouping is intelligent, and there are no delayed responses, even on older computers.
  • Personal Composer imported my older compositions (composed with an older program called “Music Magic”) more reliably than any other competitor.
  • Dynamics, sustain pedal marks, lyrics and tempo changes are easy to input, allowing you to hide/unhide any markings. Since realism is important to me, I may include anywhere from 20-30 tempo changes in a single measure, a few dynamic markings, and 2-4 sustain markings. This is my secret to composing realistic sounding compositions. Now imagine I composed measures in which I desired to have the same tempo markings as a previous measure. If I had to add all of those tempo changes, dynamics and sustain pedal marks to every measure manually every time, this would drive me crazy and slow down the composition process. But Personal Composer is so intuitive, it makes it quick and painless to copy just the formatting of any measure and apply its formatting to your newly composed measure. Personal Composer can copy dynamics, tempo changes, lyrics and sustain pedal markings without copying any notes, and this is what makes this program so powerful. All you have to do is highlight and copy a measure, and highlight the new measure you desire to have the same formatting. CTRL V applies the formatting in a flash. How quick and easy was that?
  • Playback is very important to me. Since I am a perfectionist, I need to listen to a particular measure over and over again, in order to make sure I am content, and playback has to be immediate. All I need to do is put my mouse over the desired measure, and hit “space” to hear that particular measure playback with immediate response time. I may do this 50+ times on each measure while making corrections. Imagine how annoying it would be if the measure playback was not immediate, and there was no quick way to play back a measure. This would slow down the composition process, and speed is a major factor in deciding which notation product to use. Personal Composer beats any competitor with speed and ease of use.

With Personal Composer, you can compose a complex composition within a month, once you master this notation software and learn the shortcuts. You can listen to my compositions composed via Personal Composer on my personal profile page, then make your purchase.
