Singing is the soul of music. By adding simple, yet beautiful lyrics, you can change the way your song is structured. Simple, haunting vocals can capture your audience’s attention, drawing them toward the message you want to convey.
People are automatically drawn to beautiful and eloquent vocals. Even if the lyrics don’t make sense, they are drawn to the music and the way the artist describes the subject of the song.
Musicians are constantly working to improve themselves. If you want to master your craft, you have to work on different areas of the field. In order to blend the vocals with the music, you have to make sure everything is balanced.
One of the ways to achieve this by improving your singing, and working with different styles. Here are a few ways to achieve that:
Know Your Vowels
This is an instant fix. Say, A, E, I, O and U while standing in front of a mirror, if you want to see how well you sing. Did you notice your mouth close when any of the vowels came out? Chances are it did with E and U. That’s normal if you’re an amateur singer.
Here’s the trick: simply use two fingers to keep your mouth open. Hold it down and then repeat the vowels. This is a trick to help with your muscle memory. If you notice an improvement right away, you’re on the right track.
Screaming is not related to singing. While it’s a major part of genres like death metal and screamo, there are proper techniques that should be used.
If done incorrectly, it can permanently damage your vocal chords. So it’s best to stick to clean vocals for the time being until you can improve your singing.
If you want natural vibrato in your voice, here’s an exercise that can help:
- While standing in front of a mirror, press your hands against your chest.
- Lift your chest higher than you normally would and take a deep breath.
- Exhale but make sure you don’t drop your chest.
- Sing one note and try to hold it for as long as possible. Make sure your chest is pressed.
- While relaxing the back of your neck, make sure your jaw is open while singing, ‘ahh’. But remember that using vibrato every time you sing is not a good thing.
Use Music Notation Software
Compose music using music notation software and then write lyrics. You can compose a track by simply choosing different instruments and dropping them into the timeline. This will help you compose a song.
It doesn’t have to be the best song in the world, just something that can help you improve your singing. This will help you keep up with your progress as well.
We offer a sheet music editor that allows musicians create and compose compelling melodies and pieces, without any hassles. Check out our demo or purchase the full version of our software. Feel free to visit our website for further details/queries.
